What is Edline?

Edline is a website where parents and students can check grades and homework assignments. This allows anyone with an account to check grades whenever they want to. It is a great way to stay informed about your child's progress.

Using this program you can:

How do I create an Edline account?

1. Get your access code from your child or email his/her first period teacher.

2. Open your web browser (usually Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator).

3. Go to the following web address: www.edline.net

4. On the left side of the screen, find the box for “Click here if you have a new activation code”   and click on the link for using this new code.

5. Enter your access code into the appropriate box…the parent should use the PARENT’S   CODE…use the CAPS LOCK and include the hyphens to be certain that it works.

6. The next screen should have the text box for the access code…BELOW THAT, your name should appear :

7.  In order to use this service, you must select I AGREE at the bottom of the screen…notice that there is a scroll button for the agreement and a SEPARATE scroll button (on the far right) to move the entire page.

8. Select NEW ACCOUNT…if you are adding an additional child (for example, from another campus), then you may choose to combine accounts.  Click the ‘Combine Accounts” demo for instructions.

9. Screen Name…like the beginning of an e-mail address…examples include: bellj, JeremyB, JBELL123…be careful to type that name in the SAME way (capitalization, marks, etc.) during all future sessions .

10.  PASSWORD…a word, number, or mixture of letters and digits …examples include: deerhunt, teach2001, pdiddy3…this should be secure. We strongly suggest you use a name and password different from your child’s personal Edline account.

11. RETYPE PASSWORD…simply retype the same one from the previous step using the same letters, digits, capitalization, etc.

Your name should already be entered…however, there may be additional information (such as an e-mail address) requested as you continue through the steps…simply answer these items as they arise.

12 . You should be able to complete the account’s creation and will eventually return to the login page (where you were in Step 3).

NOTE: If the computer gives you an error about your name selection, then you usually have to enter the information (password and all) again. This GENERALLY means that someone has the name that you requested. You can probably use the name “with a little tweaking”…for example: JeremyB becomes JeremyB246.

I forgot my screen name, how can I find out what it is?

Go to www.edline.net. Click the link that says "I forgot my screen name or password".  You will need to enter your email address in the second box. The email you enter must be the same email address you used when you originally signed up. You will then be asked the security question you set up for yourself. If you answer the question correctly, your screen name and password will be emailed to you.

How often is Edline updated?

Teachers do their best to update their class grades at least once a week. Homework assignments are also posted weekly. If you ever have a question about a child's grades or homework assignment, you should contact the teacher that issued the grade or homework.

How do I Access online reports?

1. Go to the Edline Welcome Page www.edline.net

2. At the left, enter your screen name in the appropriate text box under MEMBER LOG IN.

3. At the left, enter your password in the appropriate text box under MEMBER LOG IN.

4. Choose the appropriate student from the list at the left. If you have only one student, then click on that one name.

5. You should now see a listing of your child’s classes (down the left side)…by clicking on a particular class, you are forwarded to a copy of that teacher’s class information.

6. On the course page, there will be pertinent information about the course (this will be updated and improved as the teachers receive additional training in upcoming weeks).

7. On the right side of the course page, there is a link to see the student’s current grade or the student’s progress report (that depends upon how the teacher set up the link)…simply click on that link to see your student’s score as it appeared when the report was sent.

8. REALIZE: You are not seeing an “active copy” of the teacher’s gradebook. Most teachers are sending reports periodically.  Please contact the individual teacher via the link on the class page if you do not see a report or if you believe that the report contains errors.

9. You may now continue selecting other courses from your student’s schedule and repeating step 6…or you may prefer to use the VIEW REPORTS option along the side.

10. NOTE: For security reasons, if you leave the browser “idle” for too long,  Edline will usually require you to log in again. This prevents other users from walking up and browsing through your account.
